How To Create A Completely Sustainable Future Using Green Energy
Green energy sources need to become our choice for the future. In fact, there is scarcely any choice at all when you consider that the alternative is to run out of fuel altogether and even up living a far more menial and impoverished existence. We owe it to future generations not to inflict this fate upon them, and it is well within our power to do this. The technologies already exist which can take us from where we are now to where we want to go, and the only slight difficulty is working out the most effective path between the two.
The first essential is to have as clear a vision as possible as to where we need to be heading. It is clear that we need to be aiming towards a place where all of our energy needs are met from renewable sources. This needs to be completely sustainable into the future. The largest contribution towards this needs to come from solar energy, which has always been the most prominent of all renewable energy sources. Solar energy alone could satisfy our entire energy needs with just a little advance on the technology we have available now. This is not the best option, but it is perfectly feasible.
Although solar power alone can satisfy our needs, we would be better advised to use multiple sources of alternative clean energy. Specifically, we should be using wind power as well as solar for the majority of our needs. The two are complimentary, in that the areas of the world which enjoy little sunshine and cold temperatures tend to have an abundance of wind. Many of these are located near to coastal regions, and there is a huge mass of ocean space in the far north which has very strong wind currents.
The one remaining need for a complete system of alternative clean energy is for a suitable storage system. All forms of natural renewable power are dependent upon prevailing weather conditions, and there will always be a degree of uncertainty. There will be days where the wind is unusually calm, and most places have a degree of cloud cover which can reduce solar power. A good storage facility can overcome these problems and keep the supply constant, and we have the perfect vehicle for this in hydrogen.
By basing our green energy system on solar to hydrogen and wind to hydrogen electricity generation, we have the potential to completely satisfy all of our energy needs without any harmful emissions being given out into the atmosphere. If hydrogen is used as the power source for a fuel cell bus, for example, the only emission is water vapor. This type of system can not only create a totally renewable future for the next generation, it can be sustained indefinitely into the future. Such is the reward for the successful application of green energy.
