The Best Way Forward For Sustainable Alternative Energy Development
Alternative energy development has become one of the most important issues for our survival. The time for the fossil fuels we have been using up until now is running out. Even the supply of the fuels themselves will run out in the future, and that time is closer than many dare to think. Even if the supply is not exhausted, there is a huge amount of damage being done to our planet and the environment by the continuous emission of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels. We need to make a change, and we need to make it while we still have enough of the old fuel to make the change as painless as possible.
New alternative energy sources will in time take over the entire supply of the world's energy needs. There is no doubt whatsoever that these technologies have the potential to do this. Solar energy alone has the capacity to provide more than enough energy to allow the continued economic development of the entire world population, and there are other technologies which should also have a significant part to play. The way forward is now clear, and all that remains is to develop the technologies which will allow us to realize our potential.
Solar energy has always been at the cutting edge of the alternative energy movement, and it is likely to remain so. Solar technologies are evolving continually, with photovoltaic systems being able to generate ever greater amounts of electricity at the same or even less expense. There will come a time in the future where solar energy will be cheaper than fossil fuel in areas where there are warm temperatures and sunlight, and when this happens a major breakthrough will have been made.
Although solar energy can provide enough power to fuel the whole world, this will never be the best or cheapest option. This is because there are many regions of the world where there is not enough sunlight or a high enough temperature for the technology to be used effectively. In these areas, there is often a compensation in the form of high winds which can be utilized through wind power. The best new alternative energy strategy for the world will combine these power sources.
Alternative energy development can be completed with the use of hydrogen as a store of energy. This overcomes the need to maintain a constant supply of energy, which is difficult when you are using renewable sources. During times of high production, the energy can be stored as hydrogen to be used at another time. This is the best way to overcome the problem of an inconsistent supply which is inherent with renewable energy. Combining solar to hydrogen with wind to hydrogen technologies will give uis the greatest degree of sustainable alternative energy development.
| Germany's green energy sector: can it grow without subsidies? Germanys renewable energy sector has experienced a boom in the last decade that has far superseded expectations. Supported by generous subsidies, a public that is fairly open to green investments, and a widespread skepticism of nuclear power, energy producers have covered the country with wind generators and solar panels. Twenty percent of Germanys electricity now comes from renewable sources... | ||

Comment on Colorado's future in renewable energy dims after years of growth "sustainable energy"? Would someone explain what is sustainable about wind and solar. When the wind stops blowing, no energy is produced and when the sun stops shining, no energy is produced. So how do you make all this work? Large investments in all types of energy storage devices? Maybe build large and long (read expensive) transmission lines to get the power from where the wind does blows and ... | ||
